Social Community Service (Sosmas) is one of the divisions within the Student Association of Technology and Business of Fisheries and Marine (HIMATEKBIS). On March 8, 2026, coinciding with the month of Ramadan, this division organized a communal iftar (breaking of the fast) event with an orphanage in Jepara Regency, specifically the Aisyiyah Orphanage in Pecangaan. Sosmas, assisted by other divisions—namely HRD (KPSDM) and Public Relations—successfully carried out the event titled “Cross-Generational Love,” led by the chief organizer, Faiz Putra Pratama, and it was conducted smoothly.

The activity focused on building a good relationship with the orphanage and served as a form of community service by HIMATEKBIS. The event began with welcoming speeches from the chief organizer, the head of the student association, and the head of the Aisyiyah Orphanage Foundation. This was followed by presentations from Aldy Radya Herlambang, Fina Fatmawati, and Mohamad Faiz. Next, an ice-breaking session was held to ease any tension among participants and create a more relaxed atmosphere.

The event would not have been possible without the support of various parties who greatly contributed to its smooth execution. KMS (Karimun Mina Sejahtera) and Astarasa were among the companies that provided significant assistance by supplying food and snacks for breaking the fast. Students also played a role in preparing the food, which was done at KMS before being transported to the orphanage. Their tasks included gathering ingredients, processing them, and distributing the meals to the event location.

Throughout the activity, both students and other participants expressed joy and felt that the event successfully built closeness between them. Additionally, there were mini-games, such as drawing on tote bags and writing down dreams, which were then attached to a poster as a reminder to one day achieve those aspirations. After the mini-games, the communal iftar was held together with the students, participants, and several caretakers of the orphanage.

Through this activity, students not only gained experience in engaging with the community but were also able to integrate the theories taught during their academic studies beyond formal lectures. This event serves as evidence of the study program’s commitment to equipping students with real-world experience and relevant skills, particularly within the Student Association of Technology and Business of Fisheries and Marine, in order to support students’ readiness to contribute to the surrounding community.
