Uncovering the Secrets of Fisheries Business Success in the Digital Era: Sepri Situmeang Brings Deep Insights to Practitioners Teaching at Undip’s TBPK Study Program

The Fisheries and Marine Technology and Business Study Program (TBPK) at Diponegoro University (Undip) successfully held a Teaching Practitioner activity entitled “Fisheries and Marine Business Strategy and Modeling” on November 8, 2024. Held on the TBPK campus, the event was moderated by Sepri Situmeang, S.Pi., M.M., Director of PT. Alcaben Consulting Internasional, who has over 17 years of experience in international marketing and business.

On this extraordinary occasion, Sepri Situmeang shared valuable knowledge on fisheries and marine business strategy and modeling. He encouraged participants to understand the importance of SWOT analysis in business planning and how to design effective long-term strategies to address opportunities and challenges in the fisheries and marine industry. Sepri also introduced the Business Model Canvas (BMC), a strategic tool used to design and develop successful business models in the digital age. This engaging session continued with a discussion on Business Process Design and Business Process Analysis, where Sepri highlighted the importance of business process efficiency in creating a competitive advantage. Participants were given an understanding of how to maximize resources and identify and capitalize on market opportunities at every level of business.

However, this activity didn’t stop at theory. TBPK students were encouraged to directly apply their knowledge by designing a Business Model Canvas (BMC) for the farmed shrimp product they had developed. Each group was given the opportunity to present their business model to the class. The best group was awarded a prize as a token of appreciation for their ideas and creativity. Sepri Situmeang hopes this activity will broaden TBPK students’ horizons and help them understand the dynamics of the ever-evolving fisheries business world. With new skills and knowledge about strategic planning and business models, students are expected to be better prepared to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive business world, especially in this fast-paced digital era.

This Teaching Practitioner activity demonstrates that at the Undip TBPK Study Program, students are not only taught theory but also equipped with practical skills ready to master the world of fisheries and marine business.
